Welcome to Studio Pilates

So, what is Pilates?

Well, the Pilates Method found its roots in Mat Pilates, and it has evolved over the course of about 90 years. Now there is a host of modern pieces of equipment that can be utilized by instructors to help clients achieve a strong core, lean muscles, and even recover from injury. Due to its popularity, adaptability, and effectiveness, the many variations of Pilates are now taught around the world, and what makes this format unique is the art of ‘contrology.’

A path to a fuller, healthier life

Here at Studio Pilates, we will offer classes utilizing various types of Pilates Apparatus. The reformer classes, for example, utilize spring loaded resistance, gravity, and movement to either assist OR to challenge the body as required to perform the Pilates exercises.

So who is the ideal client?

Anybody and everybody. Pilates can be adapted to fit all body-types and every level of fitness. Whether you are a seasoned athlete, a dedicated gym-goer, or even if you are just getting started on your fitness journey, Studio Pilates will meet you where you are.

Instructor and Class Information

Classes here at Studio Pilates will be taught in small intimate groups, so each client will receive individualized attention. Reformer sessions are especially helpful in rehabilitating injury, while also reaching specific training goals. Support from apparatus like the reformer, the chair, and the ladder barrel (all of which will be available here at Studio Pilates) will offer the client the ability to target specific muscle groups that can sometimes be difficult to identify without feedback from the apparatus.

Is pilates just for women,
or can men practice, too?

Of course they can? It was created BY a man.

Joseph Pilates was a boxer and self-defence instructor. In fact, it was during his internment during World War I that he developed mat Pilates and began teaching his fellow internees.
